Today, let us go back and look at Africa, it's political history, the religious and political figure of Joseph Kony, follow the footsteps of the LRA, its growth and demise, what has been tired and why it has failed. Today's post is on the Lord's Resistance Army. In coming days we will explore the Invisible Children and the organizational background, in a quest to sort fact from fiction.

The group is know for is widespread violation of human rights including murder, child adduction, mutilation and enforcing children to serve as soldiers (Wikipedia.) Kony himself claims to be a spokesman of God. Inessential the group is primary a religious organisation that combined "Christian" and "Mystic" beliefs together. They have gained a reputation for waging campaigns against several countries including Northern and Central Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Sudan.
Between 1986 and 2006 it is estimated that between 30,000 and 66,000 children have been adductive, tortured, raped, murdered and trained as soldiers. In 2006 Joseph Kony arrest was ordered by the International Crimes Court, but has managed to escape capture on several occasions. Wikipedia

By 1988 the LRA had become a major player in Uganda's affairs and together with the Northern Uganda People's Army under the leadership of Odong Latek was pursarded to return to using traditional military tracts, rather than those reliant on the groups religious cult participates. The LRA was then significantly waken in the Northern campaign. There numbers were said to be reduced from thousands to hundreds.
When abducting children Kony's army would kill their families and neighbours given the children little option but to become soldiers in order to survive. In the mid 1990's the LRA again restrengthen to become involved in the conflict in Sudan, However when Sudan withdrew its support for the LRA the ICC issued a warrant for Joseph Kony's arrest in 2005. It is now estimated the LRA has a few hundred hard cord members left. Mostly like hiding out in South Sudan. Where he continues to wage some type of private war. ABC News Melbourne
In 2008 under the Brush administration 17 army advisor were assigned to the Uganda government including intelligence officers but Kony managed to avoid arrest. In May 2010 delivered a request to asking for more funding to disarm the LRA and its Leader Jospeh Kony and in November 2011 the Obermba administration deployed 100 combat troops to Central Africa with the specific goal to disarm Kony and other senior members of the LRA.
Joseph Kony is currently wanted in the International Crimes Court on 33 charges and yet he continues to avoid capture one of the reasons he is free to move across boarders of four neighbouring countries without questioning. These governments are still rebuilding after decades of civil war. Distrust amongest the four countries is still high.
In the 1990's when the Ugandan Army crossed over the Southern Sudan boarder to go after Kony there own troops were accused murder, child abduction and rape. (Kings of War) This total mistrust of each other makes appointing one country to go after Kony impossible, In terms of Africa's political insatiability many issues need to explored, before a logistical logical campaign and be launch.
