Inspiring Authors & Books

With MARCH 28 fast approaching I through it be good to talk authors & books, that have influenced and change the world and the way were think.  Authors like Dr Seuss who would of recently celebrated his 108 th Birthday.
As well as over 40 Children's books, which included classics like Cat In The Hat, which I sure we all read over & over, Dr. Suess left us with many words of wisdom such as the ones on the left.

I wonder how many children grown up in today's world have had the opportunity to enjoy the fun and the rhyme contained in Dr Seuss.  You know what I'm talking about the books that made us wiggled and giggle when we were Children, books like Green Eggs and Ham! . SHARING THE BOOKS with others on MARCH 28 @ 4PM isn't just for adults. I know by 4 pm in Australia schools out and here in Ipswich we're having our SHARE THE BOOK - FLASH MOB in Queens Park, which kids and the parents often visit after school.  We're meeting opposite the cafe and I am hoping we can each give a book to someone enjoying coffee or an ice-cream after school or work.

What better way to Pay It Forward than to introduce a young one into the love of reading.  As you prepare to be involve on MARCH 28 can I encourage you to read think about the book you will be sowing into some ones life rather than just picking a random book off a book shelf.  In the words of Dr Seuss himself  " The more you read the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you will go!"

Have you ever wondered where Pay It Forward Experience all began? Well it began will a book by that very name. Pay It Forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde. Which inspired the Warner Brothers Movie -    Pay It Forward.  Catherine was recently the very first inductee to the Hall of Fame at the Pay It Forward Experience.  So what better book would the be to sow into someone else's life the our very own Catherine's Pay It Forward - the Book.  The book is one's boys story and his belief in 'goodness'!   This young boy, through a school assignment sets out to change the world through the power of 'goodness' one person at a time.

Which is the very model we here at It Takes One: to change the world  have founded our organization on.  This young boys theory was if he could influence the lives of  three people and those three people in turned influenced the lives of three more people and so forth. The world change for the better was possible.

When Catherine penned her book she had no idea of the lasting impact she would have on the world.  Today, The Pay It Forward Movement and  Pay It Forward Experience has one of thousands of people around the world performing Random Act of Kindness (RAOK) to people they have never meet and likely to never see again (although you be surprised how the circle of life works).  In the hope that this goodness with in turned be shared with some one else.  It is on this principle we hope to on on MARCH 28 as we share the book that changed our lives, you know the ones that 'shock us to our core and turned our lives up side down'!  In the hope the will shape the life of someone whom we have never meet.

Are you wondering about the book that change my life.  I can clearly remember that day.  Its like the line jumped off the page at me.  At the time I was at a low point in my life and I seemed to be wondering around aimlessly.  I was both searching for a meaning and a purpose. Through Gods Call to the Single Adult I found that purpose that lit the spark and enlightened my life.

Basically, the author was saying it is highly likely that you passions and talents are part of your life's calling. I could believe when I read the words 'if you write the write".  The author went on to tell the story of an elderly gentleman who had passed away.  When the were sort through his belongings, they found a suitcase of unpublished manuscripts. Wow! What a legacy to leave behind.  This gentleman had left behind some of his inner most thoughts.  These were lasting memories he had left his family. speaking to them beyond the grave.

At the time I was studying creative writing.  This was my assurance that I was on the right path. Even if I never got a book to print.  I would be leaving behind a legacy for my family.  Since then I  have published four books leaving behind my mark on history.

One of my books is called What's The Difference?  I like to pose the question, when everybody is different in their own way. . . What's the difference?  My book is a collection of ten Children's story.  Each story explores a different type of disability or a set of characteristics pertaining to a particularly disability,  Some of the disabilities I explore with my young readers are visual impairments, cerebral palsy, AHAD  other learning disorders. In writing my book I hoped to help children begin to understand we are all made differently and we don't need to be afraid of people who look or sound differently to us.

Another book that has left a lasting impact on my life was Bryce Courtenay's The Power of One.
"First with your head and then with your heart."  \Was the advice boxing champion  Hoppier Groenwald gave to young Peekay  in the novel The Power of One. Through Peekay, Bryce Courtenay tells the story of the human spirit as it struggles to defeat the injustice of human hated and racism that threaten to take hold in South Africa at the time in which the novel was set.

Bryce is a born storyteller who through his novels likes to explore social justice issues.  Bryce Courtenay know first hand of the struggles, heartache and emotional pain the fight for equality has on one's life.  Bryce tells the story of how his own son contracted HIV AIDS through medical error in his book April Fool's Day,  The book records the struggle to retaining human dignity at a time when fear and myth conception of the decease of AIDS was rifle.  Once again he tells the story of love typhtum over the failings of the human spirit.

If you are a regular visitor you will know I enjoy reading Biographies and I am personally inspired be men and women who have shaped history down through the ages.  Unfortunately some people create history for all the wrong reasons.  But we need to be careful not to dismiss  there influence on history altogether.  Hitler's intial thinking was sound and logical, but it took his theories to the extreme and many people lost their lives.

Just a historical figures can provide warning posts in our quest to create world change so do they inspire us.  One man who has inspired me is Steve Jobs the creator an co-founder of Apple.  To me Jobs was wore than a enterputurer business man.  He worker with many to revolutionized the way we communicate and the way enjoyed we are entertained.  But most of all despite his intellectual and creativity abilities, Steve was humble, even going back to the company he helped create and then was sacked.

Steve Jobs was humble his sole vision in life was to bring the computer revolution into our lives, making it user friendly, portable, compact in addition to prodividing us with high quality entrainment.   c.
