Please consider your response!

A few days ago we posted a link to a u-tub clip produced by The Invisible Children Organization and it has cernianly got the 'world talking'.  It world be hard to find a person who now hasn't scene the face of Joseph Kony.  So who is he and why has his name set the world talking?  The basic facts (without any sensualization) are on your left.

The video clip which we shared earlier this week presented a very "simplified" version of a very complex situation that has span decades.  We want to say we at It Take One: to change the world. Do not endorse the video.  But if you as individuals want to support the KONY 2012 campaign we encourage you to do so.

KONY 2012 - The positives

  1. Joseph Kony face is known world wide.
  2. We know the incredible power of the social media to promote causes.
  3. The debate - People around the world have been engaged in discussion.  There is world wide agreement on the need to bring Kony to justice.
  4. Regardless of what our individual thoughts are on Invisible Children, there message and stargraties  they are doing something. In recent days we have seen much criticism of the group and how they spend their money. The organization has responded to these claims on their website. We want to encourage you to read this response and draw your own conclusions.
  5. I personal think we can draw many positives from KONY 2012 movement regardless of our individual stance at least this group is passionately following there convictions.  I said on my personal blog "The greatest obstacle to world change, is to do nothing for fear of doing the wrong thing". My greatest fear is in two weeks time apart from recruits to the movement the world will stop talking about Joseph Knoy and his capture returns to the too hard basket.  It is my earnest desire that the world and key world figures continue to engage in the debate and seek the capture of Joseph Kony.

KONY 2012 - The negative

  1. The video produced by The Invisible Children Organization paints a simplistic view of a complex situation that has spanned decades.
  2. The use of a four year old child, suggest the answers to find Kony as so simple they are child's play.
  3. The video criticizes Kony for his manipulation of Children by manipulating children to tell their story.
  4. My greatest concern is if Invisible Children can mobilize millions around the world for good intentions. What potential does social media have if it is used for evil.  Millions of us jumped on board before we stopped to ask needed questions.  What if this group asked us to act tomorrow and not on 20th April, 2012.  What if we could be mobilized by group historicism before crucial questions were asked.  Remember at It takes one, we also want to learn from the mistakes of the past, in a error when its easy to click before we think what are the warning signs here.  At It Takes One we what you to use an analytical approach to world change - not jump on every causes band wagon.
  5. Many other criticisms have been discussed in recent days, we encourage you to visit websites and blogs to explore these including  Invisible Children Website and  my personal blog .
We apologize for so quickly jumping on the band wagon and posting the video on the blog.  We encourage you to keep the debate and Kony name in the media.  But as to how you chose to do that all we ask is you make a decision with your head rather than your heart.  Remember KONY 2012 blanket the world red night is April 20 2012. Its your choice!

Thank you
